When will my order ship?
Pretty quickly.
Orders are typically processed within 1 - 2 business days (Monday - Friday.)
Once your order ships, you’ll get a confirmation email with tracking information.
How do you get me the goods?
Reliably.
We offer Standard Shipping on all U.S. orders, including Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and APOs. Orders of $75 or more ship free via Standard Shipping.
If you want it there faster, you can upgrade to UPS Ground or UPS 2nd Day Air at checkout.
How do I track my order?
Right from your inbox.
You’ll find your tracking link in your shipping confirmation email. Tracking details usually update within 24 hours, once the carrier scans the package into their system.
If you don’t see the email, check your spam or junk folder — inbox filters don’t always play nice.
My tracking says delivered, but I don’t see my package. What should I do?
It happens.
Carriers occasionally mark packages as delivered before they actually arrive, and they may turn up later.
We recommend waiting up to 48 hours, and checking around where packages might have been left - and with neighbors or building staff.
If it still hasn’t appeared, contact the carrier directly to report the issue. If you need help beyond that, reach out to us — we can request that the carrier initiate a formal delivery investigation to confirm what happened and determine next steps.
Can I change or cancel my order after placing it?
Sometimes.
If your order hasn’t shipped yet, we can usually help with changes or cancellations. Once it’s shipped, we’re no longer able to make updates.
If you need to make a change — including updating your shipping address — email us as soon as possible and we’ll do our best to catch it before it heads out the door.
Do you ship internationally?
Just north of the border.
At this time, we ship within the U.S. (including Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and APOs) and to Canada. We don’t currently ship to other international destinations.
Any applicable duties, taxes, or import fees for Canadian orders are determined by the carrier and are the responsibility of the recipient.
What happens if my shipment is delayed?
Usually, it just needs a little time.
Once an order leaves our hands, delivery timing is up to the carrier. If something looks stalled, most shipments get back on track within 3 to 4 business days.
If it hasn’t moved after that, reach out. We’ll help figure out next steps.
What is your return policy?
Love it, or leave it. You’ve got 30 days to decide.
Don't like a scent? Not what you expected? Changed your mind? No worries - you’ve got 30 days to send it back, as long as the item is unused and in its original packaging. We’ll even cover the cost to ship it back.
Once it’s received, we’ll refund the purchase price of your item(s). No questions. No hoops. No hard feelings.
How do I start a return?
Just reach out.
Email us at support@bearsvillesoaps.com - and be sure to include your order number. We’ll take it from there and get you set up with next steps.
How do subscriptions work?
Best as a bundle.
Most customers build a Subscription Bundle so everything ships together on one schedule. You choose the products you want, how many you need, and how often you’d like them delivered — then we take care of the rest.
Your bundle ships automatically on your schedule, with 10% off everything in the bundle on every shipment.
If you’d rather subscribe to a single product instead, you can do that directly on the product page.
What products can I subscribe to?
Nearly everything.
Most of our products are available for subscription. The only exception is candles, fragrance - limited editions, since those tend to sell out quick.
Can I change, skip or cancel my subscription?
Absolutely. There’s no commitment.
You can swap products, adjust quantities, change delivery frequency or skip shipments anytime. Over it? Cancel with a click.
Is your soap different than the soap I buy at the drugstore?
Yes — very.
Most commercial “soaps” aren’t really soap at all. They’re detergent bricks — a bad cover band pretending to be the real thing. Built to foam big and cost little - often at the expense of your skin.
Bearsville soaps are the opposite. We make real, cold-process soap using premium oils and a traditional method that retains glycerin — a highly effective natural moisturizer that most commercial soaps strip out. That’s why our bars clean without leaving your skin tight, dry, or wrecked.
Real soap shouldn’t need a lotion to fix what it broke.
What’s in this stuff?
Ingredient-wise, real is our whole deal.
Meaning: if you can’t pick it, grow it, dig it, or sow it, it’s probably not in our wheelhouse.
Our soaps are made with raw, natural materials and powerhouse plant-based ingredients — olive oil, coconut oil, shea butter, sunflower oil, sustainably sourced palm oil, essential oils, and herbs.
For some scents, we use carefully selected fragrance oils that meet strict safety standards and are free from phthalates and other known nasties.
If you want the full rundown, you can scope out our Ingredients section anytime.
Can I use your soap on my face and hair?
Sure, whatever floats your boat.
With gentle, natural ingredients and innate moisturizing properties, our soap can definitely go head to toe — for all you get-in-and-get-out types.
That said, if you prefer specialized products, we also offer a full line of hair care, including shampoo bars formulated specifically for hair, crafted with the same care and quality as our soaps.
Can I get free samples?
We don’t do samples.
Our goal is to minimize waste, so we focus on making full-size bars the right way, rather than producing smaller throwaways.
That said, we still want you to feel great about trying something new. That’s why we offer free returns — so you can experiment a little without getting stuck with something you don’t love.
Do you test on animals?
Hell no, we keep critters out of it.
Our products are 100% cruelty-free. In fact, the only creatures we test ‘em on are friends and family. So you and Fluffy can rest easy.
How long does your soap last?
Depends. How clean are you?
On average, if you shower once a day, each bar lasts about two to three weeks. If you’ve got a heavy scrubbing habit, you’ll power through our soap a little quicker — and if you’re all about that #unshoweredlife, you’ll get an extra couple weeks out of it.
Either way, remember to let it dry out between uses to maximize your soap’s mileage.
How do I treat my soap right?
With a little TLC.
Our natural, handcrafted soaps have a high glycerin content, which attracts water. (That’s also what makes them so hydrating.) The tradeoff is that they don’t love sitting around wet.
If you leave a bar lounging in after-shower puddles, or store it in a humid bathroom, it’s going to break down faster than it should.
So keep things simple: let your soap dry out between uses, ideally on something that allows for drainage. We happen to make a pretty ideal soap lift for just such a purpose, if you’re inclined.
And since we don’t add preservatives or unnecessary chemicals, these bars aren’t meant for long-term bunker storage. Use them within a year or so for best results.
How big is each bar?
None of this dainty stuff.
When it comes to soap, we like a hearty slab. Since our bars are handcrafted, each one is a little unique — but they generally come in right around 5 oz, measuring roughly 3.25" wide x 2.5" high x 1" thick.
Is your soap good for sensitive skin?
Almost always, yes.
Our soaps are made with real oils and naturally retained glycerin, and we don’t load them up with harsh detergents or fillers. That tends to play nicer with skin — especially compared to most mass-produced soaps.
That said, sensitive skin is personal. What works great for one person might not work for another. If you’re prone to reactions, we recommend starting slow and paying attention to how your skin responds.
Is Bearsville a real place?
Yep.
Bearsville, NY is every bit as wood-splitting and whiskey-drinking as the name implies.
Located in the heart of the Catskill Mountains, we’re constantly drawing inspiration from the rugged beauty and wildlife surrounding our hometown and HQ.
It’s a real place, and it informs everything we create.
Do you create this stuff yourselves?
Yes.
All our products are designed and developed by us. Everything we offer is bona-fide Bearsville.
We’re inspired by our natural surroundings in the Catskill Mountains, and that’s often the starting point when coming up with something new.
Our products are based on unique formulas and scents, so everything we offer has that unmistakable Bearsville vibe.
Why Bearsville?
Because where something comes from tends to shape what it becomes.
Bearsville is a place that values function over flash, substance over shortcuts, and things made to actually last. That mindset shows up in everything we create.
We create goods thoughtfully, deliberately, and without a lot of unnecessary noise. Real ingredients. Proven methods.
Bearsville isn’t just a name — it’s a filter. If it doesn’t earn its place, it doesn’t make the cut.
Are you an independent company?
Yes. We’re independent and owner-operated.
We keep things intentionally small so we can stay hands-on, make thoughtful decisions, and actually stand behind what we sell. No outside noise, no corporate nonsense — just real goods made the right way.
If it’s not covered above, hit us up. We don’t bite.
